WEAP Hydrology Model Applied: The Rio Conchos Basin
by Charlotte C. Amato, M.S., P.E., Daene C. McKinney, Ph.D., P.E., Eusebio Ingol-Blanco, M.S., and Rebecca L. Teasley, M.S.
ABSTRACT
A hydrologic model of the Rio Conchos basin was developed using WEAP with the ultimate goal of determining the feasibility and practicality of a WEAP hydrologic model for the entire Rio Bravo basin. The confluence of the Rio Conchos and Rio Bravo is near Ojinaga, Chihuahua and Presidio, Texas and is significant because the Rio Conchos provides approximately two thirds of the total annual water volume to the lower Rio Bravo. The Rio Conchos basin is primarily located in the Mexican state of Chihuahua with the southern edge spilling into Durango.
