Arc Hydro Implementation
10) Further Refinements
10.1-In ArcCatalog add description of Feature Datasets and Feature Classes through Metadata An important part of your Arc Hydro Data Model is the documentation of all its components. The Arc Hydro Data Model allows for the inclusion of Metadata to greatly document and describe your data. In ArcCatalog you can add different pieces of descriptive information to your data like Abstract, Purpose, Supplemental information, etc. 10.2-Clean attribute tables of unnecessary fields and add needed ones by Joints. During the generation of your Arc Hydro Data Model you may have used data that had a temporary character to support the generation of relevant parameters. Also, sometimes the default datasets from your sources contains information that is not relevant to your project. If this is the case you can go through the data and delete those fields that you are sure are not necessary. As time passes, you may add some extra information that becomes available to enhance your feature classes by making joints or other basic GIS operations. Remember, the Arc Hydro Data Model is Extensible, Flexible, and Adaptable. So keep adding the necessary features and fields to your data as they become available to your project. |
