ArcGIS Hydro Data Model
The ArcGIS Hydro data model (Arc Hydro) is a data model for representing hydrologic
features in Geographic Information Systems (GIS). The goal was to support a basic
cartographic representation of surface water features while enabling the integration
of those features with hydrologic and hydraulic simulation models. Key elements
of Arc Hydro include the HydroID which is used to link related features, and the
association of features such as monitoring points with time series data.
Arc Hydro was officially released in 2001, and is described in the book
Arc Hydro: GIS for Water Resources. This book is available from ESRI Press
(http://esripress.esri.com/).
Arc Hydro is often utilized in Dr. David Maidment's classes at The University of
Texas at Austin. For the complete class library, see
