Biography
Kate was born and raised near Houston, in the quaint
suburb of Spring, TX. After 18 years in Texas, Kate was
ready for a change of scenery and headed to Nashville, TN to
earn a BE in Civil and Environmental Engineering from
Vanderbilt University. Her interest in water was piqued
after a semester in beautiful New Zealand and, shortly
thereafter, an internship that exposed her to the world of
water resources assured Kate that she had found her niche.
After earning her bachelor’s degree, Kate returned to the
great state of Texas to focus on water resource engineering
at the University of Texas and is currently working under
the direction of Dr. David Maidment at the Center for
Research in Water Resources.
Research
Kate is currently working on a project on flood frequency
analysis and is beginning work on a prototype document
management system covering the Trinity River Basin for the
Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ).
