Biography
Ernest To is a native of Hong Kong and a citizen of
Singapore. He obtained his bachelor's degree in Civil
Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin and
master's degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering from
Cornell University. His work experiences include working as
a project engineer at Quantitative Environmental Analysis,
LLC (2001-2005) and serving as a lieutenant in the Singapore
Armed Forces (1996-1999). Ernest is currently a Ph.D.
candidate at the Center for Research in Water Resources
working under the direction of Dr. David Maidment.
Research
Ernest has been involved in the CUAHSI project
(Consortium of Universities for the Advancement of
Hydrological Science, Inc) which goal is to improve water
resources informatics so that researchers can share, gather
and process data more quickly and easily. His research
interest is to understand available mathematical frameworks,
such as geostatistics, that can integrate the wealth of
knowledge resulting from these advancements in
informatics. His aim is to use these frameworks to perform
better estimation of environmental variables in space and
time.
